Welcome to the world of the fascinating Imster Fasnacht (Carnival of Imst)
Experience one of the biggest, rawest, most colorful and most spectacular traditions of the Alpine region on the web. Get enchanted by the infamous “ Imster Schemenlaufen” (Carnival of Imst), performed every three to five years only by the men of the city of Imst. During these times, the town is faced with exceptional circumstances – in every sense of the word – by this spectacle for centuries now. Not only the men, but also the boys aged from 6 to 16 get a chance to take part in their own “Buabefåsnåcht” (Boys’ Carnival) in the same cycle as their fathers. Can’t wait for that long? Neither can the citizens of Imst. The town’s “Auskehren”, performed on the night of Shrove Tuesday is a yearly occurrence.
